Career Development Mobile App Hackathon was a two-days coding event with the main goal to design a mobile app prototype that features career opportunities for youth in the field of security and defence. The event was took place on 24th and 25th November 2018, with the support of international organizations, public sector and auxiliary industry. The Hackathon gathered different teams, with mixed profiles, including programmers, designers, recruiters, project managers and communication specialists.

EADSociety identified a gap related to the professional development and employment opportunities for youth interested in the field of security and defence. Information about high-level conferences, training programmes, internships and traineeships, volunteer opportunities, but also junior positions in international organizations as a first step in the career, needed to become more accessible to the young graduates.

The solution to these problems proposed by EADSociety was to organize a two-days Hackathon in order to build up a Mobile App to centralize various professional opportunities at different levels.

The application will feature diverse opportunities based on different clusters, but also news and events managed by the App admins who will post them in a unified manner. Young people who are actively looking for these opportunities will have the app installed on their phones. This would allow them to get notified and access the jobs in a simplified and integrated manner. At the same time, the users will be able to subscribe to certain types of positions or regions according to their interest.

The team that came up with the best prototype won the big prize of 2000 EUR, offered by Total Soft Romania.
